Integrated Development Project for Poor Rural Communities Supporting Orphan - Prosiect
Trosolwg o'r prosiect
Drought is common in the Mbarara, Rakai, and Ssembabule districts of Uganda due to poor rainfall and lack of natural water sources. Communities lack access to clean water, often sharing those water sources that do exist with cattle, leading to high rates of waterborne diseases. Land is overgrazed and there is little woodland. As a result farm land is degraded leading to poor crop yields. Women own little land and when widowed through AIDS, their husband's land is taken away.
