After implementing Universal Primary Education, schools in Uganda are struggling to provide a quality education to all. Only 1 in 3 children who start primary school go on to complete the 7 years. Literacy and numeracy is low with only half of children able to read a simple sentence on completion of school. In rural areas it is estimated that 60% of children still don't go to school despite it now being free.
