Farmers from NASFAM (National Smallholder Farmers' Association of Malawi) will be trained and supported to diversify the crops they grow to include plants suitable for essential oils. A Fairtrade Mark has been secured for the essential oils that the project will produce. This will impact on the market value that the oils will have and the project has small companies that have formally committed to purchase the products. The additional income will be passed to the farmer groups and women's cooperative.
