The organisation will use the funding to celebrate and re-create a famous local riot, which was part of the Luddite movement and is significant in Macclesfield's history. The re-enactment will involve volunteer community actors and will be followed by a public feast with music and entertainment in the towns market square. The event is open to all and is expected to attract more than 2,000 people from a wide range of backgrounds to share skills.
