Children and family members of North East prisoners will have improved contact after charity NEPACS received a grant of £300,000 to continue its work. The organisation facilitates mother/father and child visits to re-establish bonds and provides play activities for the children. The project aims to benefit 450 children. An independent economic study of the project estimates an overall cost-saving to wider services of £11.41 for every £1 funding provided to the project, with savings from reduced offending.
