This school for pupils with physical or learning disabilities started a pilot programme of Animal Assisted Therapy late last year and will use an award to develop the scheme. The scheme will involve children in feeding and petting animals with the assistance of a professional therapist, thereby developing social skills, interaction, speech and cognition whilst also having fun and learning about different animals. The award is for the costs of 48 weeks of visits by an Animal Assisted Therapy professional.
