The funding will provide support for members of the Gypsy and Traveller Community (GTC) in around York, to include topics such as; finance, education, health and experiences of discrimination. The aim is to improve physical and mental wellbeing, and help dispel mistruths about the GTC within the local community.

It aims to relieve poverty, advance education, promote health and stimulate social and economic welfare of the GTC. Its core work includes: advice, advocacy, conflict resolution, and challenging prejudice, discrimination and harassment by dispelling negative images of Gypsy and Traveller culture. It also promotes diversity between the GTC and the settled community and encourages collaboration between local and national agencies to enable the GTC to access relevant services and challenge unacceptable and inadequate service provision.
