Grassroots projects across Northern Ireland share £3.4m National Lottery funding
03 October 2025
The National Lottery Community Fund has announced over £3.4 million from their flagship National Lottery Awards for All programme, to 212 community projects across Northern Ireland.
Many of these projects are well on their way to bringing people together, supporting our environment and improving health and wellbeing as we move into Autumn and Winter.
Projects at the heart of communities in every Council area have received grants ranging from £1,000 to £20,000, depending on what they needed.
This includes Killowen Community Association in Coleraine who received a £19,370 grant to repair and improve their community garden and run a series of educational, social and leisure activities.
Carol Gordon from Killowen Community Association said: “Many houses in the Killowen Estate don’t have gardens and there are high numbers of people with mobility issues and ill health who are isolated. Our garden was at the heart of the community for 15 years, but storms made it unusable.
“This funding will transform it into an accessible place, where people can come together, learn new skills about nature and growing and develop friendships, which not only improve wellbeing but also encourage people to work together and protect our environment.
“We asked our local community what they wanted, and through this money we can also run education and leisure activities such as a Women’s Support Group, to re-energise the local area and meet their needs, making a big impact on people and families. Thank you National Lottery.”
Any eligible community projects with an idea to bring people together, improve places and spaces, help people reach their potential or support those facing cost-of-living challenges, should visit our website or get in touch. We’re also holding online information sessions on Wed 15 October and Mon 8 December.
Kate Beggs, Northern Ireland Director of The National Lottery Community Fund said: “I am delighted to see these projects awarded that will make a big impact, particularly those that we haven’t funded before.”
