GEM (Going the Extra Mile) Project

Going the Extra Mile (GEM) provides intensive one-to-one support to people with multiple complex needs, through an action plan personalised towards each person’s own goals. GEM places a strong emphasis on building confidence, motivation and readiness to learn, while valuing participants’ individuality. The project works closely with local business to provide members of the project interview training, mentoring, work experience, apprenticeships, volunteering opportunities and awareness of available jobs. GEM will also help participants to complete training programmes and gain qualifications, and help overcome financial barriers to finding work.
