Northern Ireland equality

As a UK wide public body with functions in Northern Ireland, the Fund is subject to specific equality duties

Our responsibilities as a public authority in Northern Ireland

We are committed to ensuring that we eliminate discrimination, promote equality of opportunity and promote good relations between people of different backgrounds. Legislation in Great Britain and Northern Ireland requires public bodies in the exercise of their functions, to have due regard for the need to:

  • eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and other conduct
  • advance equality of opportunity between people from different groups; and
  • foster good relations between people from different groups.

There are a number of positive duties that we must comply with in Northern Ireland relating to Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 and the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (as amended in 2006).

If you would like to discuss any aspect of our approach to equality for Northern Ireland please contact
