The National Lottery Community Fund welcomes two community ambassadors to deliver future funding in Wales

The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in Wales today announced the appointment of two new members to join its Wales Committee.

The appointees include Trystan Pritchard, Chief Executive Officer at St David’s Hospice and Gwenllian Lansdown Davies, Chief Executive Officer of Mudiad Meithrin.

They will oversee grant making in Wales at a time when the Fund continues to support people and communities most affected by COVID-19 – building on and strengthening the connections, organisations, and resilience that enables communities to thrive.

Trystan Pritchard, from Gwynedd, is Chief Executive Officer at St David’s Hospice and has built relationships with organisations across the Third Sector in Wales. He is also a Social Care Wales Board Member and has previously chaired the Wales Committee for Citizens Advice Cymru.

On joining The National Lottery Community Fund, Trystan said: "The National Lottery Community Fund is more important than ever in helping communities in Wales to develop new initiatives, to respond to new challenges and to help address inequalities. I am looking forward to contributing to this work and hope I can help ensure that the excellent projects and benefits delivered by the fund continue during these uncertain times."

Finally, Gwenllian Lansdown Davies, from Powys, is Chief Executive Officer of Mudiad Meithrin. She’s had a career in many policy areas from representative politics, to research from early years to higher education, and has a strong understanding of the diverse and multi-faced culture, economy and politics of Wales.

Welcoming the news of her appointment, Gwenllian said: “The National Lottery Community Fund helps make a difference to so many people and communities across Wales. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to be part of this work and knowing that there are countless fantastic ideas about how to create resilient communities that are great places to live and be a part of.”

Dr Simone Lowthe-Thomas, Chair of Wales Committee said: “I am pleased to welcome Trystan and Gwenllian to The National Lottery Community Fund’s Wales Committee. They bring a wealth of experience of the third and voluntary sectors in Wales, particularly in health, education and equality, diversity and inclusion. Their expertise will leave us even better placed to get National Lottery funding to communities all over Wales.”

Last year saw £31 million distributed in 850 grants across the country, all thanks to funding raised by National Lottery players.
