How to select the right ITV region or partner for The People’s Projects

How to select the right ITV region or partner for The People’s Projects

If your application to The People’s Projects makes our shortlist, you will work with one of our media partners.

They’ll help promote your project by covering it on TV (or in the newspaper for some Scottish projects). They’ll also encourage local people to take part in the public vote to decide which projects win up to £70,000.

We’re working with UTV in Northern Ireland, and ITV in England, Wales and parts of southern Scotland. We are working with the Sunday Mail in the rest of Scotland.

We need you to tell us which of these partners works in your area.

If your project is in:

England or Wales

  • Select the ITV news region you receive

Northern Ireland

  • Select UTV

Part of Scotland that receives ITV Borders

such as Dumfries and Galloway or Scottish Borders

  • Select either ITV Borders or the Sunday Mail
    • You can choose either
    • They will promote your project, and advertise the public vote - so think about which of these most people in your area can access

Any other part of Scotland

  • Select the Sunday Mail.

Which ITV news region you should choose

Choose the ITV news region that you and the people who will be involved with your project will have the best access to.

If your application is shortlisted, your project will appear on your local ITV news to win the support of your local community. So you want as many local people as possible to see or hear this.

In some locations, the best ITV news region to choose may not be clear. For example, neighbouring areas may get different TV signals. You could ask people involved in your project which ITV regional news they see.

If you’re in England or Wales and are not sure which ITV news region you are in, the following table will give you some guidance.

How to make sure you choose the right ITV news region

You can find out what ITV region you’re in by checking the backdrop behind the presenters on ITV news. It’s on at 6pm every day on the ITV channel. To confirm your region, you can use our picture guide to ITV regional news backdrops.

It is your responsibility to choose the ITV news region for your project. The National Lottery Community Fund and ITV cannot to do this for you.
