AVIATORS (Advancing Visually Impaired Adoption of Technology OutReach Service - Project

Project overview

The funding will be used to support the AVIATORS project (Advancing Visually Impaired Access to Technology Out Reach Service) which will provide information support and training in the use of specialised handsets and software for those who are blind/with sight loss (SL) and visually impairment (VI). The project will purchase fifteen specially adapted sight loss tablet devices which will form a digital lending library to loan out to project participants. The devices are sophisticated and use tailored templates to help people with SL/VI to navigate a touch screen has accessibility options around format and colour and reader options with voice activation at a higher degree of specialisation than that seen on a normal smart phone.
