SELFIE (Sexual Exploitation Love Friendship Empowerment) - Project

Project overview

The funding will be used to research, develop, sustain and scale-up a counselling and preventative intervention programme - including sex and relationships education and sexual violence awareness and prevention workshops - for boys and girls across the area. The SELFIE (Sexual Exploitation Love Friendship Empowerment) project is funded by RC for a period of 5 years ending March 2020. Practice and learning over the funding period have culminated in the development of a specialist programme surpassing target outcomes and impact; and which local beneficiaries and stakeholders want to sustain and extend locally to meet identified need. Development routes to be considered and tested: ' Extensive rollout of the SELFIE project in school and community settings to reach more young people e.g. through producing a package of training, tools and session plans ' Develop a participatory model where appropriate involving young people in the co-production of the programme ' Adapt and improve the programme for specific audiences, e.g. different age ranges, young people in the care system, young people who are parents; and specialised modules i.e. intimate partner violence, coercive control, pornography ' Research similar projects to develop best practice and the potential for partnership working ' Greater focus on networking and promoting the programme to maximise exposure and increase potential investment ' Sustaining the SELFIE project financially by researching the current education landscape and other delivery options within the community. RSACC has been delivering specialist counselling services for 24 years and receives funding from a wide range of sources (for counselling services, and not preventative intervention for young people).
