Over £3 million of National Lottery funding has been awarded to community groups across Wales that are gearing up to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Rhondda Hub for Veterans in the Welsh Valleys is one of 83 community groups across Wales, celebrating a share of more than £1 million from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in UK. Rhondda Hub for Veterans, were awarded £10,000 to address homelessness, supporting people in Rhondda who have left the armed forces.
Three new partnerships in Wales are celebrating after being awarded over £8.3 million of money raised thanks to National Lottery players to help end homelessness. A new scheme to award up to £3 million of funding to address rural homelessness will shortly be announced.
The National Lottery Community Fund awarded nearly £100,000 Friends of Cymru Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia CIC to provide tailored and sensitive support the families they work with. During the pandemic people with Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia were more vulnerable to COVID-19 than the general population and there is both stigma and a lack of understanding about the condition.
