£50,000 of National Lottery funding for Carmarthenshire’s digital future

A Carmarthenshire organisation has been awarded a National Lottery grant to enhance its digital infrastructure to support local groups in a post-pandemic society.

Carmarthenshire Association of Voluntary Services (CAVS) receive £49,353 of National Lottery money to enhance their digital support provision for voluntary sector groups in Carmarthenshire.

CAVS are the support agency for over 800 voluntary groups in Carmarthenshire. They are one of 14 organisations across the UK receiving a share of £600,000 of National Lottery money from the New Infrastructure Fund.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, CAVS has experienced a dramatic change in how it is able to safely offer its services to voluntary groups. They will be using the National Lottery money to be able to address the new needs of local organisations as they adapt to a post-COVID-19 society.

Welcoming the grant, Marie Mitchell, Chief Officer at CAVS, said: ““We are delighted to have been given this opportunity of funding to strengthen both CAVS and the voluntary sector throughout Carmarthenshire and to ensure that the sector thrives in the future”.

Ruth Bates, Wales Director at The National Lottery Community Fund, said: “The voluntary sector has made an incredible impact to support people and communities through the pandemic, particularly as many groups have had to adapt their work to be delivered online.

“I’m delighted that thanks to National Lottery players, hundreds of local groups in Carmarthenshire will benefit from this project.”

National Lottery players raise £30 million every week for good causes in the UK which is playing a critical role in supporting people, projects and communities during these challenging times.
