The National Lottery Community Fund’s Helping Working Families programme was developed to tackle in-work poverty in Wales. Our research and stakeholders told us that there was an increasing number of families that were being affected by poverty despite at least one person in the household being in work.

In 2018, £6.2 million of National Lottery money was awarded to 13 projects across Wales. These projects would build on the strengths that already existed within each community, and would involve the wider community to develop services and solutions that best fit their needs.
