Cheshire and Warrington

This LEP area is made up of Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester & Warrington. £11,000,000 is being invested into Cheshire and Warrington as part of Building Better Opportunities.

Data from the Department for Work and Pensions (2012) shows that there are over 45,000 people aged 25-64 in Cheshire and Warrington facing significant barriers to employment.

New Leaf

The New Leaf project is designed to boost confidence and unlock potential by providing training, developing skills and giving opportunities to improve personal aspirations. New Leaf brings together a diverse range of 30 partners including local authorities, learning providers, charities, social landlords and disability support networks to support a minimum of 2,800 residents across Cheshire. All clients will have own their professional mentor, trained to build positive relationships focused on clients needs and strengths. Bespoke programmes will support clients to explore and identify personal barriers to enable them to achieve agreed goals, re-engage with mainstream services, and ultimately maintain employment. Money advice; volunteering opportunities; work placements; and self-employment support will be provided within the partnership to create positive and sustainable pathways to work.
