Becoming a Survivor was part of the Life Transitions investment area of Investing in Communities, through which The National Lottery Community Fund invested in projects that brought real improvements to communities and the lives of people most in need.

Becoming a Survivor had a budget of £8 million to support people affected by domestic abuse and survivors of domestic abuse to be in a home of their choice and help them to move on with their lives both practically and emotionally.

While we acknowledge that domestic abuse consists mainly of violence by men against women, we want to provide support to men, women and children who have been affected by it. We want to help people to have a choice about their housing and to provide support to improve their emotional well-being and their sense of self-worth.
