The Thornton branch of the Royal British Legion will use their award to hold two events to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. The first event will be an educational day at Thornton Grammar School for the whole community with Army Cadets, local servicemen and women's groups attending. The aim will be to show people what life was like during the Second World War by displays, exhibitions and re-enactors. The second event is a thanksgiving parade and commemoration service.
