The grant will pay for Howden Civic Society to create a visible trail in Howden's main street to show details of the construction of the famous R100 airship. Designed by Sir Barnes Wallis, who later designed the bouncing bomb, His MajestyÂ’s Airship R100 was constructed at the former RNAS Air Station Howden. Bronze insets of its parts will be installed in pavements of the market place with explanatory text. The aim is to generate pride in the community, showing the important role Howden played in history.
