Ataxia is the principal symptom of a group of rare neurological disorders called the cerebellar ataxias. The cerebellar ataxias are disorders in which the nervous system is affected, causing problems such as balance & lack of co-ordination. Cerebellar ataxias are progressive & lead to immobility.
