The aim of this research project is to provide new knowledge to address the 'crisis in sexual health' of young women living in areas of social and economic deprivation. In 2001, the applicant organisation carried out a survey that demonstrated that safe expression of sexuality was a genuine concern for young women. They also voiced concern for 'real life' understanding and skills to tackle abusive relationships, pregnancy, pressures to have sex and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
