Reducing Poverty via investments in Water provision in rural pastoral Somal - Project
Project overview
Somaliland was formed in 1991 following three years of civil war resulting in 60,000 deaths, large numbers of displaced people and a near total destruction of infrastructure. Following a period of inter-clan conflict, peace was established through traditional peace-building methods. Sixty five per cent of the population are nomadic pastoralists. Rainfall is low and erratic, and severe droughts occur every 5-8 years.
