What we're looking for in your application

Insight into what you do well

We want to shift the focus from how ready your organisation is for investment to what you do well and want you need to flourish.

We’ll ask:

  • what your organisation does

  • which communities you work with

  • how your organisation supports and positively impacts these communities

  • what work or achievement you are most proud of

  • what feels difficult, stretched, or challenging within your organisation

Plans for how you want to strengthen and grow

We are looking to support organisations from Global Majority and racially minoritised communities that:

  • have plans for how you want to strengthen your organisation

  • a vision for how you want to grow

But may not have been able to due to barriers in the sector, including structural racism.

To understand your plans, we’ll ask how funding will:

  • be used to strengthen your organisation

  • help your organisation overcome key challenges it faces, now and in the future

  • enable your organisation to apply for larger grants, other income or investment opportunities

  • build on work you have already done

  • allow you to deliver your longer-term vision for supporting Global Majority and racially minoritised communities

Representation and lived experience in your leadership and work

This funding is all about strengthening organisations that are led by and for the Global Majority and racially minoritised communities they serve.

We’ll ask:

  • how your organisations work is led by people with lived experience

  • how you make sure lived experience is central to your leadership, governance, decision-making and activities

  • how people are enabled and supported to use their lived experience to shape your organisation and its work (for example, providing staff or leadership training)

  • what proportion of your organisation identifies part of as Global Majority and racially minoritised communities

Willingness to collaborate and share learning

To help break the barriers to larger, longer-term funding for Global Majority and racially minoritised groups, we need you to be open to recording and sharing your learning.

This is essential because it will help us:

  • challenge structural racism in the sector

  • influence and support necessary change

  • understand how to design future funding for Global Majority and racially minoritised communities

To understand how your organisations uses learning, we’ll ask how you:

  • currently develop or adapt your work using something you have learned

  • will continue to develop your approach to learning

  • will share learning to benefit others outside of your organisation

Working with adults at risk, children and young people

You need to have a policy in place that explains how they’ll be safe. If you get funding you’ll need to follow our safeguarding expectations.

The NCVO website has resources and advice on safeguarding.
