  • not-for-profit company
  • community interest company (CIC)

If you’ve had this funding before (Young Start – Small Grants)

You must wait 3 years after your previous funding has ended before you can apply again.

If you’ve had Young Start – Main Grants funding before

It’s unlikely that we’ll fund you. Young Start – Main Grants is for organisations that already involve children and young people in their work. Young Start – Small Grants is funding to help organisations to develop or learn how to do this.

We can consider funding your organisation, if it has changed since you had Young Start – Main Grants funding. For example, staff with skills to involve children and young people have left your organisation. Contact us to find out if you can apply.

Board or committee member requirements

To apply, your organisation must have at least 3 board or committee members who are not related. If you're a company, you must have at least 3 directors who are not related.

We consider people to be related if they are:

  • married or in a civil partnership
  • in a long-term relationship or live together
  • related by blood or through a partner
