What we want to fund
Outcomes your work must meet
The work we fund must meet 2 outcomes:
- improve how your organisation works with children and young people
- involve children and young people in ways that benefit them
Involve children and young people in ways that benefit them
By this we mean involving people aged 8 to 24 to:
- influence and make decisions about your activities, services or organisation
- choose when and how they're involved
Your work must also make a positive difference to children and young people.
For example, your work could:
- improve their health and wellbeing
- help them develop skills
- build their confidence
Improve how your organisation works with children and young people
Involving children and young people in your work can:
- make it relevant to the people you support
- help build trust and improve relationships with the people you support
- make it more inclusive and fair
- help children and young people develop skills and confidence
- help you include children’s rights in everything you do
We expect this funding to make a lasting change to how your organisation works with children and young people. This funding should help you test ideas and build skills that help children and young people stay involved, even after the funding ends.
For example, you could:
- work with children and young people to develop and test new ideas
- build co-design skills in your team through workshops with children and young people
- make processes or systems that support children and young people to feedback or make decisions on your work
Working with adults at risk, children and young people
You need to have a policy in place that explains how they’ll be safe. If you get funding you’ll need to follow our safeguarding expectations.
The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) website has resources and advice on safeguarding.
