Who can apply
We want to work with a range of organisations that bring different knowledge, skills and perspectives to the partnership. Large or small, local or working across England, if you are making a difference, we want to hear from you.
You can apply on your own as a single organisation, as a partnership with another organisation, or as part of a bigger group. If you’re applying as a partnership or group, one organisation will need to take the lead and complete the application on behalf of everyone involved.
What types of organisations can apply
You can apply if your organisation is a:
- constituted voluntary or community organisation
- co-operative society
- constituted group or club
- registered charity
- charitable incorporated organisation (CIO)
- not-for-profit company
- community interest company (CIC)
- statutory body (including local authorities, town, parish and community councils)
- community benefit society
You need at least 2 unrelated board or committee members
At least 2 members of your board or committee must not be related to one another.
By related, we mean people who are:
- married
- in a civil partnership
- in a long-term relationship
- related through a long-term partner
- living at the same address

If you're applying as a company, you must also have at least 2 directors who are not related. This includes companies that are also registered charities.
The partners we’re looking for
Organisations should have proven experience in:
- leading work to tackle structural racism and discrimination
- involving people with lived experience of racism and discrimination in decision making, governance and staff
- working with health inequities
- having the confidence to drive wider conversations in this area
We want to prioritise a mix of the following types of organisations:
- community-based and experience-led organisations: rooted in the community, you bring a blend of lived experience, cultural insight, and contextual knowledge of how to tackle health inequities
- civil rights and advocacy organisations: you work to improve health equity through policy, awareness or legal reform
- health and social care organisations: you focus on improving health outcomes and reducing inequities in the system
- faith-based organisations: you reach groups that others may not, through your community-focused work
- consultancies: you promote diversity, equity and inclusion, and bring resources and fresh ideas
- government and public sector bodies: you have the reach and resources to support wide-ranging initiatives
- think tanks: you offer research, data and ideas that can influence policy and reform
- incubators: you provide mentoring, funding and resources to help grassroots work grow
If you already have funding from us
You can apply if you already have funding from us. But we cannot fund the same work twice.
Joining the partnership without funding
Larger organisations that do not want to apply for funding can still be involved. We welcome organisations that can bring more funding, knowledge and influence into the work.
