Our impact - communities are healthier

People can experience poor health for lots of different reasons. Health inequalities are unfair differences in people’s health that come from the conditions they live in. Across the UK, health inequalities are wide and long-standing.

Communities play a vital role in helping people live healthier lives.

A project we funded - Group Recovery Aftercare Community Enterprise

Group Recovery Aftercare Community Enterprise (GRACE) supports people in East Dunbartonshire, Scotland, who are dealing with trauma such as addiction, mental health challenges, loneliness, or involvement in the justice system.

It helps them to rebuild their lives offering activities like:

  • art

  • digital classes

  • yoga

  • health walks

  • peer support

“I feel blessed every day. I am in the fortunate position that I see people’s lives being changed right in front of me. People come in and they are on their knees, emotionally broken, and then suddenly they are facilitating classes and sharing their positive experiences with new people coming in.”
