Support that saved me – Sam’s story

Sam, a mother of three, was struggling to cope with the challenges of raising her children, two of whom have additional needs. She was at breaking point when she first went to Home-Start Wrexham and things started to change. With their support Sam and her children are gaining confidence every day.
Sam lives in Wrexham with her husband Stephen, their four-year-old twin boys, and their two-year-old son. The twins have been diagnosed with global delay and complex health needs.
While her partner was at work Sam began to feel increasingly isolated. She thought people didn't understand her children's behaviour and found herself leaving the house less and less.
When they first arrived at Home-Start Wrexham, Sam was barely coping. But with encouragement and support from Home-Start Director, Pam Hoyle, things soon began to change.

With Pam's help and belief Sam and her children's lives have been transformed. The boys made progress that Sam once thought was impossible, hitting small milestones and bring hope back into everyday life.
Support didn't change everything at once, but it made each day feel more manageable.
