How to apply for funding by video
For some funding, you can submit a video instead of writing about your idea or project. The application form for the funding will say if you can apply by video.
What we need in your video
You need to make sure that your video provides all the information we’ve asked for in the application guidance. You should use this video to answer the ‘Your idea’ section in the application form.
How to make your video
Don’t worry too much about the style of the video. We just need the sound to be clear and to be able to hear what you’re saying.
Avoid filming in places with too much background noise like outdoors, in a busy café or office. A quiet empty room’s a good place to film in. You can film it on a phone if you want.
Your video should be about 5 minutes long but no longer than 12 minutes.
If you're going to take videos of people taking part in your project, make sure you get their consent first. You'd normally do this with a consent form. Find information about consent from the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
How to upload your video
After you’ve made your video, you’ll need to upload it somewhere online and send us a link to view it. You cannot send the video file directly to us, or upload it to a site like DropBox, Google Drive, or OneDrive. We need a link instead.
Youtube and Vimeo are two examples of video hosting websites you can use:
How to send us a link to your video
When you have uploaded your video, enter the full website address (URL) for your video into the funding application form.
Make sure the website address is correct so we can watch your video. The full website address will include all the letters and symbols at the beginning of the URL. This includes the http:// or https:// at the start.
Protect your privacy
It’s your responsibility to remove the video from the host site after you know the outcome of your application. Read the host site’s own privacy notice for more information about what happens to your video if you leave where it is.
If you’re using YouTube, you can choose to make your video unlisted to make sure it’s not seen publicly.
How we’ll review and assess your video
When we get a link to your video, it will only be reviewed by staff making a decision about your application. It won’t be shared or posted anywhere online.
It will also be assessed the same as a written application.
