The Solidarity Fund

  • Project location: England
  • Amount: £1,000,000 to £5,000,000
  • A decision in: 35 weeks
  • Programme status: Open to applications

This funding is for organisations in England that are taking action on the root causes of inequality, such as poverty, disadvantage and discrimination.

We want to support and strengthen work that aims to create lasting change, led or shaped by people with lived experience. We're looking for work that can grow and continue over the long term.

What we’ll fund

We fund work that tackles the root causes of poverty, disadvantage or discrimination. Your application must show how you will:

Be led by lived experience

Your work must be led by, and accountable to, people with direct experience of the issues you want to change.

Make systems change

Go beyond short-term fixes and focus on shifting power, reshaping decisions and creating long-term solutions.

Work in solidarity

Bring people together across different issues and communities, so they can act on shared challenges.

Build community power

Make sure people have the skills, confidence and support they need to take the lead and influence decisions.

Create and share learning

Share learning from people who experience inequality, so they can be heard, influence change and strengthen collective action.

For more details, read 'what we want to fund'.

We can only fund a few organisations

We’re making only a small number of large, long-term grants, so not every organisation that applies will be funded.

In the first few months we’ve already received more than 100 applications, but only a small proportion have been invited to stage 2. We expect to fund around 10 organisations in this first year.

This reflects the ambition of the fund and the high bar we set for applications. Please make sure this is the right fund for your organisation before you apply.
