Understanding your community's needs
When you apply for funding we must understand your project and how it will benefit your community.
Your project should be relevant and effective. When planning it, consider how:
your project will change individual’s behaviour and attitude to the environment and the effects of climate change
you will involve local people once the project has started
your project will benefit the community
you can make your activities more inclusive
you might overcome any barriers that might stop people from taking part
If your project involves a green space
Tell us how people will:
help deliver and look after it, for example, by volunteering
use or enjoy the space when it’s finished
Involving the people you support
Consider how the people who benefit from your project can also take part in running it. For example, they could:
volunteer with your organisation
join your board or committee
help with tasks that support the project
Bank statements
We need a bank statement from the last 3 months to check the account where we’ll pay your funding.
Your bank account and statement must meet our requirements. If they do not, you’ll need to reapply when they do.
You must provide a:
bank account that meets our financial controls and financial governance guidance
recent bank statement (if your account was opened in the last 3 months provide a bank welcome letter or transaction listing instead)
Bank statement requirements
Your recent bank statement or transaction listing must show:
your organisation’s legal name
the address statements are sent to
the bank’s name and logo
the bank’s address
your account number and sort code
the date range the statement covers (or the date the account was opened if you’re providing a bank welcome letter)

If you’re sending us a bank welcome letter, it must:
have a date from the last 3 months
show the name of the bank account (this should be the legal name of your organisation)
show your account number and sort code
Funding for land or building projects
If you need funding for land or building work, you must provide one of the following:
proof of ownership of the land or building
a lease for at least 5 years and proof of permission from the owner or landlord to do the work
a letter from the owner confirming a lease for at least 5 years and proof of permission from the owner or landlord to do the work
You may need to check if you need planning permission.
Keeping people safe
You’ll need to have a policy in place which explains how you’ll keep people safe.
If you get funding, you must follow our safeguarding expectations for organisations we fund.
