Introduction
This report reviews the Helping Working Families programme, explaining the key achievements and illustrating some of the main outcomes. The programme supported families affected by poverty despite having at least 1 person in the household who worked.
Projects worked to develop long-lasting solutions for in-work poverty while providing immediate support for affected families.
Findings
Projects reached over 10,000 people affected by in-work poverty in Wales.
These projects helped to:
improve people’s chances of finding more secure or better paid work through new training, qualifications, and upskilling
reduce costs for families (for example through school uniform exchanges, toy and household tool libraries)
support activities that families would not otherwise have been able to afford (like family days out)
provide information and advice for families, including peer support
