Types of organisations that can apply
You can apply for Young Start – Main Grants if your organisation is a:
- constituted voluntary or community organisation
- constituted group or club
- registered charity
- Scottish charitable incorporated organisation (SCIO)
- not-for-profit company
- community interest company (CIC)
- community benefit society
If you already have Young Start - Main Grants funding
You can apply for Young Start – Main Grants funding again. If you want the funding to continue with little or no interruption, contact us 6 months before your existing funding ends. This should give us, and you, enough time to complete your application.
You cannot be funded by Young Start – Main Grants and Young Start – Small Grants at the same time.
If you’ve had Young Start – Small Grants funding before
You must wait until your funding has ended before you can apply. We will fund new projects or existing projects you want to develop further.
Board or committee member requirements
To apply, your organisation must have at least 3 board or committee members who are not related. If you're a company, you must have at least 3 directors who are not related.
We consider people to be related if they are:
- married or in a civil partnership
- in a long-term relationship or live together
- related by blood or through a partner
