The #iwill Fund Learning Hub Evidence Event November 2021: Exploring community benefit and the quality principles

Introduction

This document summarises key conversations from an #iwill Fund Learning Hub event for Match Funder. The event explored community benefit and Quality Principles in youth social action. It brought together funders and delivery organisations to share experiences, approaches to measurement and key learning. It aims to support organisations and funders involved in youth social action programmes.

Findings

The event explored how community benefit can be understood and measured in youth social action programmes. Participants shared approaches to assessing direct, societal, personal and organisational benefits.

Key themes included:

• understanding community benefit through multiple perspectives

• measuring outcomes using practical, proportionate approaches

• involving young people in reflection activities

• sharing learning from funders and delivery organisations

• applying Quality Principles to youth social action

Participants also emphasised that collaboration helps embed youth social action within local structures.
