Introduction

This report evaluates the fifth and final phase of the Life Skills Project in Wales. The project aimed to support people who face barriers to finding or returning to work.

This included groups like:

  • care leavers

  • carers and former carers returning to work

  • economically inactive families

  • people over 50 years old

The project focused on helping these groups engage with:

  • education

  • volunteering

  • employment

The report shows what the project achieved, how it was delivered and what was learned.

The report is for funders and practitioners.

Findings

The evaluation found that the Life Skills Project helped participants improve their confidence, wellbeing and access to.:

  • education

  • volunteering

  • employment

The findings show that long-term and flexible funding helped service providers:

  • build trust with participants

  • tailor support to individual needs

  • support people with complex barriers to progress
