Introduction

This interim evaluation examines how the Dormant Assets NI Phase One Grant Programme is supporting the resilience and sustainability of the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector in Northern Ireland.

It assessed early delivery, results, and learning during the programme’s initial stages.

It’s intended for funders, policymakers, and VCSE organisations seeking to understand sector wide capacity building.

Findings

The interim evaluation found that Dormant Assets NI:

  • reached a wide range of VCSE organisations facing capacity and sustainability pressures

  • supported early improvements in organisational resilience, including planning, governance, and income diversification

  • helped organisations address resource gaps that limited long term strategic development

  • enabled delivery of grant funded activities, contributing to stability and preparedness for future challenges

  • identified early operational challenges and learning relevant to sector funders and delivery partners
