Introduction

This annual report summarises the National Lottery Community Fund’s activities, performance and financial position for 2023 to 2024. It provides transparency on how funding was allocated and managed over the year.

It’s intended for:

  • policymakers

  • funded organisations

  • government bodies

  • anyone interested in national community funding

Methodology

The report draws on organisational financial records, programme data and internal performance monitoring for the period 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024. It follows statutory government reporting standards and includes audited financial statements, narrative reporting and portfolio‑level summaries to explain funding use and outcomes.

Findings

The report sets out the Fund’s financial performance, highlights key areas of investment and details progress against strategic priorities. It shows how funding supported community wellbeing, resilience and local initiatives across the UK. It also presents audited financial statements demonstrating how public funds were allocated, managed and controlled during the year.

Alongside this, the report includes insights into operational improvements, grant‑making trends and the Fund’s efforts to support community‑driven change. Performance data illustrates how funded organisations contributed to social outcomes, while governance information outlines accountability measures and risk management processes in place throughout the year.

Considerations

The report reflects financial and strategic activity specific to 2023 to 2024, so results may differ in other periods. Local experiences may vary as this report focuses on organisational level data rather than individual project case studies. Financial performance is presented within statutory reporting requirements, which may limit broader contextual detail.
