The funding will be used over 5 years to continue the group's existing project and support work. The group will provide practical and psychological support to the Bosnian and former Yugoslavian (Kosovo Serbia Croatia Macedonia and Montenegro) and other ethnic minority communities now living in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands. It will support elderly people and their carers through day drop ins to give them the opportunity to connect and socialise talk about their experiences play chess participate in exercise and receive a light meal. They will also deliver health awareness sessions � focusing on specific issues such as falls prevention and deafness and to overcome barriers in accessing statutory support. Additionally they will produce a quarterly newsletter to provide information on community issues changes to local services benefits and legislation.
