The Welsh Connection Self-Help project is a new project targeting older deafblind people. Over three years it will establish 12 self-help groups across Wales. The groups will meet monthly and the Group Coordinators will provide a mentoring role for beneficiaries, facilitating delivery of a range of training. The barriers this project will tackle include prejudice, a lack of listening skills, impatience and few meaningful opportunities for participation, the cumulative effect of which is isolation.
