This project aims to improve the lives of people affected by serious long-term illness through accessible and appropriate advice services. Telephone support, home visits and outreach sessions will be offered. Advisers will identify benefit entitlement and support mechanisms to help reduce stress and enable people to cope better. Volunteers, many of whom are ex service users, will be trained to provide additional advice capacity, or as client befrienders to mentor those who are isolated.
