This four-year project, in partnership with the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Queen's University Belfast, aims to find out if music therapy can help children and young people with mental health problems. At the moment, there is no firm scientific basis for this belief. Through a randomised, controlled trial, the project will establish whether music therapy benefits the communicative skills, self-esteem and social functioning of children and adolescents with mental health difficulties.
