49 community groups are celebrating a grant from this month’s total £1,009,466 of National Lottery funding. This Christmas, community groups in Wales are supporting community groups and charities navigating the cost-of-living crisis and helping those struggling with addiction.

Cancer Aid Merthyr Tydfil, were awarded £10,000 to re-open a daily drop-in centre, offering practical and emotional support to those whose lives have been touched by cancer. The group are also making plans to help keep patients and carers warm this winter in the face of the cost-of-living crisis.

Hope Church Merthyr Tydfil, a food poverty charity are celebrating £78,000 for their Pantry project. Hope Church’s work initially began during the first lockdown as they shopped for those unable to leave the house, before evolving into delivering free, emergency, food parcels and offering a telephone befriending service.
177 community groups and organisations across Wales are celebrating a share of £5 million awarded by The National Lottery Community Fund for their important work to help bring communities together.
Today, The National Lottery Community Fund awarded £10.8 million in grants through its Mind Our Future programme to nine partnerships supporting young people’s mental health and resilience across Wales.
